| Needham Market
is more than a village - more a small Suffolk market town - with
Hamilton Smith its leading estate agent. And while there is no
denying that Ipswich leads the area for shopping and leisure,
Needham more than holds it own.
Unlike many
a town, Needham's High Street has retained its traditional
butcher, baker, Post office and banks. And there is plenty to do,
from the regular farmers' markets to the annual Easter Art Show,
August Bank Holiday Fete and a splendid Firework Display in
November. Other events are advertised in the free Needham Market
Newsletter.
One of the
town's most popular attractions is Needham lake. Well stocked with
fish and a splendid venue for bird spotters, its surrounds have
also been used for Open Air Theatre, Local Dog Shows and a Pitch
and Putt golf course, open in the summer months.
If you're
looking for a period property in Needham Market, most are located
around the High Street area, dominated by attractive timber-framed
buildings, mostly with Georgian facades. The remaining housing
stock tends to be to the South, principally late '60s to early
80's built, though exceptions do exist, of course.
Mid-Suffolk
schools have a 3-tier system, with older children travelling to
the High School in Stowmarket.
